There is too much to say. About the current state of training and development. About the direction some think is the future of our discipline. Or about unlocking hidden abilities, ideas, and effort within ourselves and the people around us.
When the list of things that could be done becomes too daunting, sometimes I freeze at unanswered questions. Would the information I intend to share on this blog be better suited for YouTube or LinkedIn? How do I catch Learning and Development professionals in the places they prefer to learn? Is it even worth doing?
For over two years, my answer to that last question has been, no, it's not worth the effort. I only have so much time and much bigger ideals of what free content should look like. I want to have a channel where I design games to demonstrate different learning and instructional design principles. I want to spread the good word of using game mechanics to inform learning activities. I've let the possibility of something great overwhelm me and stop me from making something good enough.
Maybe this blog will grow to include social media with audio and video. Maybe it won't. For now, I intend to write my next post about combining instructional design and game design. That's all I know. If anyone reads any of these posts and has ideas or questions, it would mean a lot to hear from you. Please reach out on Instagram or through the Forge.
Thank you and remember: Growth cannot always be pretty, but it does usually start with some kind of first step.
